Dr Sabrina Ngaserin
Senior Consultant
Oncoplastic and Minimally Invasive Breast Surgeon
MBBS (Singapore), MRCS (Edinburgh), MMed (Surgery, Singapore), FRCS (Edinburgh), FAMS (Singapore)

Dr Sabrina Ngaserin is a senior consultant breast surgeon, and medical director of Breast Surgery Care Partners, with subspecialty expertise in oncoplastic and minimally invasive breast surgery. She is one of the few breast surgeons in Singapore, and the world, with dual subspecialty expertise in oncoplastic and minimally invasive breast surgery – advanced breast surgery techniques that eradicate disease while remaining sensitive to our patients’ desires for aesthetic surgical solutions.

Prior to private practice, Dr Ngaserin was Head of Breast Surgery and Senior Consultant at Sengkang General Hospital, Chief of Breast Service at SingHealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre, and Honorary Visiting Senior Consultant at the National University Hospital of Singapore. She was an active member of the Executive Committee of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre and Sengkang General Hospital Medical Board, responsible for service and systems development, involved in multiple committees that worked alongside various healthcare organisations, the Ministry of Health, and collaborations with international associations. She continues to serve in the public sector as a Visiting Senior Consultant at the National University Hospital and SingHealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre.

Education & International Fellowship Training

Dr Sabrina Ngaserin graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and completed her general surgery residency and breast specialist training at the National University Hospital (NUH) of Singapore. She holds a Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the National University of Singapore, is fellowship accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (General Surgery) and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. She is also Specialist Accreditation and Specialist Registration Certified by the Ministry of Health of Singapore and Singapore Medical Council, and was accredited as a breast specialist of the Health Promotion Board supported national screening programme ‘BreastScreen Singapore’.

Her subspecialty skills were honed through advanced training in top institutions worldwide:
  • Ministry of Health Singapore Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship-funded Advanced Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship with the Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospital Group, Australia
  • Breast Surgery International Visiting Scholars programme with Asan Medical Center, South Korea
  • Surgical observerships across Asia: Seoul National University Hospital, South Korea; Samsung Medical Center, South Korea; CHA Gangnam Medical Center, South Korea; Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan; The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thailand.

Teacher, Mentor and Advocate for Specialist Training

Dr Ngaserin strongly believes in education and mentorship for future generations of doctors and surgeons.

  • Adjunct Assistant Professor of Duke-NUS Post-graduate Medical School
  • Adjunct Assistant Professor of Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore
  • Ongoing Medical School Examiner for Medical Schools in Singapore
  • Former Clinical Block Lead and Clinical Teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine Singapore

As a pioneer of minimally invasive breast surgery (MIBS) in Singapore, she was Founding Director of the Minimally Invasive Breast Surgery Symposium (MIBSS) Singapore, which is currently in its third run – involving live surgical demonstrations (both in person and live telecast) and cadaveric workshops. She has also authored textbook chapters in MIBS, represented SingHealth in overseas collaboration as steering committee for the clinical pillar of Robotic Surgery, and serves as proctor for like-minded MIBS advocates

Research and Academic Achievements

Dr Ngaserin is also actively involved in breast and general surgery research. She has published extensively in scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, is a reviewer for a number of major scientific journals in breast surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical innovations. She is a regular local, regional and international speaker. As participant, panellist, invited faculty, organising committee member, or course director, she presents her surgical and scientific work regularly in conferences and meetings around the world. She is also the Singapore country representative of the digital strategy communications team of the EUBREAST Network of the European Breast Cancer Research Association, a charitable independent non profit organisation aimed at promoting international research in the field of breast cancer surgery.

Personal Philosophy &
Patient-Centred Care

Dr Ngaserin is passionate about cutting edge breast cancer surgical techniques that considers her patients’ oncological safety alongside their need for aesthetic, quality of life and function preserving solutions. She is particularly passionate about minimally invasive breast surgery, tailoring small ‘off-the-breast’ and ‘minimal-access’ incisions to provide the illusion of ‘nearly-scarless’ breast resections. She believes in meticulous diagnostic and therapeutic discussions, followed by the creation and tailoring of a personalised oncoplastic approach involving multidisciplinary services, to guide each patient and their loved ones through their treatment journey and survivorship.

Dr Ngaserin treats each patient with love, finds great fulfilment from being an integral part of their journey towards better health, and feels privileged to be entrusted with the responsibility to safeguard their lives.

Areas of Expertise

Oncoplastic breast surgery illustration

Oncoplastic Breast Surgery

Our oncoplastic breast surgery techniques integrate cancer removal with advanced mammoplasty options and partial or whole breast reconstruction methods in order to preserve aesthetics and quality of life. We also offer deformity correction for patients who may benefit from post-treatment rejuvenation. All approaches are carefully tailored to address our patient’s medical, aesthetic and personal needs.

Invasive breast surgery illustration

Minimally Invasive Breast Surgery

We specialise in minimally invasive breast surgery (MIBS), offering precise and less intrusive procedures that prioritise scar minimisation, reduced discomfort, decreased surgical risks, and expedient recovery. MIBS can be performed with sensory preservation strategies and allows close-to-ideal breast restoration with the full spectrum of breast reconstruction methods.

Sensation-preserving breast surgery

Sensation Preserving Solutions

The sensation preserving mastectomy aims to restore feeling in the breast and nipple area after a mastectomy by nerve preservation and reconstruction, to avoid complications associated with sensory compromise and improve post-surgery quality of life.
